Story

Wow I wasn’t expecting the head shave fundraiser to do as well as it has!! I think we’ve hit target for our go fund page at 8k +, a separate fundraiser is getting confirmed to donate directly to Lois and Dale so they can enjoy the little things and worry a little less.

PLEASE HOLD OUT anymore donations till this goes live, thank you 💕💕

First off I want to say thank for taking the time to look at my page.

I’m a 27 year old girl from Barnsley, braving the shave for my gorgeous 38 year old sister Lois, who’s cancer journey can be followed on her Instagram

 _thelovelylife_

Lois has 3 beautiful children Cole 13, Ronnie 3 and miracle baby Ray 8 months (you’ll understand the term after reading)

Her journey has been a very difficult one, she has been failed hugely by the NHS!

It all started when she developed skin cancer a few years ago, this was a cancer they said couldn’t be a primary and it shouldn’t cause much harm and it went with cream and that was supposed to be the end of her troubles with cancer…

We shared our pregnancy with Ronnie and me with my daughter Zara, she wasn’t very well compared to my pregnancy, she was sick all the time, constantly picking up infections and a few warning signs but none that medial professionals thought was worrying as she was pregnant, she had a relatively text book birth and Ronnie was born healthy and lovely.

She bought a house, did it up and was living a gorgeous normal family life Dale and her kids ❤️

They wanted to sell up after doing house up and came to live with my dad while it was sold (who lives next door to me) and having Lois so close I saw this other side to her, this worried health anxiety she had…

She constantly had empty stool sample pots in the doorway, blood forms, constant water infections, pain, bowl changes, generally unwell and always, always at the doctors! She couldn’t have a smear because doctors weren’t doing them yet, doctors we’re still not back to normal over covid, trying to put her symptoms down to IBS and hardly to none referrals done to hospital to chase up any of her concerns…she even had a referral to mental health for health anxiety!!!!! Because she was always ringing doctors or at the doctors!! I wonder why?!

Her and Dale decided to try for another baby and got caught on instantly with baby Ray

Lois developed pain across her abdomen, very bad pains, lost a lot of weight, had to cut dairy, constantly had a bad gut feeling, actually told people she thought she had cancer, actually told me😔….that she had a feeling and all we used to do was reassure her, because you think all these bloods, stools and what ever else she has at the doctors surly would pick this kind of stuff up!

She got in so much pain towards the end of her pregnancy with Ray that she was having referrals to pain clinic at Barnsley hospital only to be discharged back to GP care as they couldn’t find the cause of pain

Lois got so bad with the pain she was going to A&E complaining, she’d get discharged again.

She went towards the end of pregnancy and said some worrying stuff that made people have to check further, they then found ‘something’ on a ultrasound.

They induced her to have Ray, she wasn’t progressing how they’d of liked so they opted a C section…it was at the C section they discovered her whole abdomen was riddled with cancer, one of the surgeons who she’d encountered along the way with her pain had tears in his eyes at the surgery…he knew they’d all failed her.

Ray was surrounded by cancer inside her, he even had an indent in his head I learned recently 🥺from been snuggled to the tumour in her womb…now if that’s not heart braking enough, they have gave her stage 4 diagnosis.

She came out of hospital on a syringe driver, we all thought it was it for r poor Lois, 3 beautiful children and she’s been failed like this!

I could go into more medical terms and details but all that matters now is fast forward 8 months and she’s still here! is off syringe driver, she is pain free (most of the time) she has gone through rounds and rounds of chemo! Has her oil and shrunk some of the large masses and had a full hysterectomy

They said all her womb n ovaries etc had all fused together inside and stuck to her diaphragm! How the hell Ray got here I do not know other than miracle, everyone called him a Ray of Sunshine in the early days as that’s what he was! ☀️ she’s having her breasts removed next and we plan on having her as long as possible!! She will remain the horrible term terminal and stage 4 💔

We learnt she has a BRCA gene mutation and this is likely the cause to her cancer, we are all currently waiting to find out if it has passed to siblings which is 50/50, cancer has been such a big part of our family the last few years so this does explain.

Our Lois is wanting to shave hers for cancer donations! you beautiful soul, let’s get some donations for you from now till Christmas and on your birthday on 26th of December 2022 I’m passing you the sheers and you are shaving my hair along with your lovely friend Ben Greenwood! And who ever else joins along the way💕hair will be donated on for wigs and all money goes straight to cancer research 🔬 any cash donations will go to Macmillian 💚

Love you Lois x
